Closing the Earnings Loop: How to Know If Your Score Actually Predicts Revenue

A product score is only useful if it predicts something real. The whole point of scoring products 0-100 is to help you pick winners — products that actually earn commissions. But how do you know the score works?

The Problem

Most creator tools score products but never close the loop. You research a product, get a score, make content, earn (or don't earn) commissions — and none of that outcome data flows back to validate the score. The tool has no idea if its 90-scoring product actually earned you anything.

How Shimm Closes the Loop

Shimm lets you upload your Amazon Associates earnings reports (the CSV from your Associates dashboard). Once uploaded, Shimm maps each ASIN to its score and computes the correlation:

• Score buckets vs. revenue: "Products scored 75+ earned $X per product. Products scored below 35 earned $Y per product."
• Revenue lift: "High-scored products earned 3.2x more than low-scored products."
• Category performance: "You perform best in Home & Kitchen (your scores there correlate 0.7 with earnings)."

This data lives on your Score Insights page inside the app.

How to Upload Your Data

1. Go to your Amazon Associates dashboard
2. Download the "Earnings Report" CSV (any date range)
3. In Shimm, go to Settings → Sales Data → Upload CSV
4. Shimm parses the ASIN, units, and revenue columns automatically
5. Check your Score Insights page to see the correlation

What Happens Next

Once Shimm has your earnings data, two things improve:

1. Your scores get personalized. Categories where you perform well get a confidence boost. The scoring engine learns your strengths.
2. You can see your hit rate. Over time, you'll know: "When Shimm says Strong Buy, I earn X on average." That's the feedback loop that makes the score trustworthy.
